Youth Fountain have an incredibly special song called “Roses In My Backpack” from their upcoming album. That album is called Together In Lonesome and will be released on November 3 via Pure Noise Records. An album that has collected notes and ideas from years before Youth Fountain was a thing and brought them to the forefront of their upcoming journey, it’s a sentimental record for Tyler Zanon. A reminder that things do change and do get better and that we have the power to beat whatever is plaguing us. There’s already one song from the album out in the world. That’s “Fallen Short“, which marches to a rather different beat. But now we have another, and it is awesome.
“Roses In My Backpack” feels like a quintessential Youth Fountain track. Fast, furious and overflowing with gripping emotion and intent. As it should be, to be honest, as it’s about hitting the absolute limit. Being on the verge of falling off the edge and having no hope of finding your way back. Such honesty and rawness is something that Tyler does so brilliantly, offering up a reminder that other people go through these things as well. It’s as much therapy as it is a moment to remember that you never know what people are going through.

Tyler had this to say about the track:
“’Roses In My Backpack’ a personal favorite of mine. This track is all about the feeling of losing everything that ever mattered to me in life-being at a major breaking point and wanting to give up. I originally wrote this song in 2010. It went through many different versions. I had on the back burner for years, once as an old demo I tracked with a friend of mine that never really saw the light of day.
“I managed to upload an acoustic version of it to YouTube around 2014, and some very die-hard super fans really loved this track. Then I brought the song idea to Anton, and he really made the whole thing come to be what you hear now. I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. It’s a very sentimental and special song to me.”
