Will Joseph Cook Shares Vibrant New Track

Will Joseph Cook has been marching to his own beat for almost a decade now. Reinventing, reworking and renewing his sound and style track by track, he is one of the UK indie scene’s biggest chameleons. Kicking off 2023 in the same style, he has been piecing together a new chapter that leans once again into a different sonic pool. Beginning with the tranquil “MF BASSLINE”, he has picked things up again with the release of “FEARLESS IS THE FLAME”.

The track in question combines several different strands of alternative loveliness. There’s funk-riddled bass holding everything together, breezy synths washing over you from all angles and plenty of foot-tapping vigour. And over the top is Will, delivering a soft and soulful croon that echoes 80s dancefloors across the globe. The result is a perfect summer ditty, full of existential atmosphere and seriously catchy hype.

Will had this to say about the track:

It’s about romantic tension, a passion that you can’t or shouldn’t act on. The flame being the feeling that’s hard to stop once it’s burning within you. It’s definitely a manifestation of my delayed obsession with Prince over the past few years. I feel like that energy is a topic well-trodden in his songs. The way the chorus instrumental feels like it’s wrestling with this huge expressive guitar riff made me think of these conflicted emotions pulling you in different directions.”

Will Joseph Cook released his last full-length last year in the form of “Every Single Thing”. It featured a track called “Be Around Me”, which had a guest vocal from the incredible Chloe Moriondo. It sounded an awful lot like this:
