It’s been a whirlwind week for The Rise And Fall Of A Midwest Princess artist Chappell Roan. The artist took to TikTok this week to explain why she’s not endorsing a candidate for the 2024 election but will be voting for Kamala Harris. Obviously, this caused lots of online discourse, some in bad faith.
Though, this is not the only “controversy” she’s recently encountered. In August, the singer took to social media to discuss boundaries with fans and “fans.” She said, “I don’t care that abuse and harassment, stalking, whatever, is a normal thing to do to people who are famous or a little famous, whatever. I don’t care that it’s normal.”

She continued, “I don’t give a fuck if you think it’s selfish of me to say no for a photo or for your time or for a hug—that’s not normal, that’s weird!”
Recently, The All-American Rejects‘ vocalist Tyson Ritter came to the defense of Chappell Roan against all the bad faith attacks while doing an interview on The Jesea Lee Show. The host and artist discussed rapid meteoric rises that can happen seemingly overnight.
Ritter, who has been in the spotlight for decades, shares, “She’s right. everyone else who disagrees is wrong.”
He adds, “People forget that you offer your music and you don’t offer your companionship. And I understand for fans now because so many artists literally build their brand off of how much they give themselves. I think that is the biggest corruption of modern music. The fact that people have expectations on the person and can’t just surrender to the fact that they offered music because they’re a musician.”
Finally, he adds, “They’re not someone who is there to hold you physically when you’re down. That’s what the music’s for. Go listen to the fucking music.”
