If you’re not scream-singing all of the lyrics to The Veronicas’ new single “Perfect” this weekend at When We Were Young Fest, then you clearly missed the memo. Marking their first new music as a duo since 2021’s double-album release, “Perfect” emerges as a quintessential alt-pop/emo anthem that instantly reminds you of why you fell in love with the Aussie twins when they released their 2017 hit single, “Untouched.”
With John Feldmann from Big Noise at the helm and fueled by the explosive drumming prowess of blink-182’s Travis Barker, “Perfect” lives up to its name in every sense of the word. Serving as the flagship track for their upcoming 2024 full-length album, Gothic Summer, it’s impossible not to be captivated by Jessie and Lisa Origliasso’s vibrant harmonies and in-your-face attitude that bursts forth in the chorus. This song is nothing short of sheer perfection.
For fans unable to see the twin sisters back in action at the festival, idobi Radio has got you covered. You can check out a preview of their performance below.

More on The Veronicas
The Veronicas released their last full-length album back in 2021. Well, there were two! First, there was GODZILLA, a rock and roll-leaning display of hot and heavy tunes. Then there was HUMAN, which found the sisters putting their talents towards radio-ready pop. Both atmospheric, intoxicating, and brimming with emotional resonance, they are records made for the good times as much as the bad times.
In the time since, the sisters have taken part in a little something they called ‘The Solo Project.’ Stepping out on their own on a track each it allowed both Jessie and Lisa Origliasso to express themselves in whatever way they saw fit. Jessie’s song was “Seeing Stars,” a driving rock hit that drips in sensual feeling and playful melodies. Whilst Lisa put out “Cruisin’ On My Own,” a slow tempo and soulful piece of individuality and confidence, it’s a song for all those who know what they are worth.
