Today is a big day for Taylor Acorn. Paving the way as one of the leading ladies of the pop-punk scene, the powerhouse just dropped a new version of her song “Coma” featuring the legendary Cassadee Pope (Hey Monday, ‘The Voice’). Expressing the mixed emotions that come with a toxic relationship, the new version is empowering to listen to, as each vocalist’s tones pierce through the mix with defined clarity.

Writing the song together alongside Dan Swank, this collaboration is a special one to both Acorn and Pope. Their mutual respect and adoration for both each other’s talent and the track itself is palpable.

“‘Coma’ is about the awakening out of a toxic relationship, feeling free but also almost unrecognizable from the person you were when you were in it,” Acorn shares. “‘Coma was written with Cassadee Pope as a co-writer, and I’ve also been a huge fan of hers since Hey Monday. I thought it would add a really awesome element if she was to put her own spin on it as well, so that’s what we did!”

“Writing ‘Coma’ with Taylor and Dan Swank was one of the most easygoing, natural sessions I’ve ever done,” Pope adds. “The dynamic was really special, and I loved getting to write for someone else’s project, especially Taylor who I’m such a fan of. When she asked me if I would sing on a new version of the song, I immediately said yes because it really is one of my favorite songs out right now. I’ve experienced what the lyric talks about and feel very connected to it.”

With this new rendition of “Coma” comes the announcement of Acorn’s forthcoming EP, Certified Depressant: an 8-track collection of songs delving into the themes of love, loss, and mental health. Dropping September 22 on all streaming platforms, the project will give listeners greater insight into Acorn’s head and heart, as well as the valuable lessons she’s learned thus far.

Earlier this week, Acorn also announced her first-ever headlining tour happening this fall. Kicking things off November 8 in Toronto, ON, and wrapping up in her hometown of Nashville, TN, the singer is excited to make this tour “one of the best experiences for you all.”
