Sleep Token are anonymity. For the last eight years, they have built an empire unlike any other. Releasing music that resonates with them with no strings attached – no press, no quotes, no real names – they have created something truly unique. A community brought together by pure and simple love of art. From 2019’s Sundowning to 2021’s This Place Will Become Your Tomb, they have grown and blossomed in a truly unique way. A once-in-a-generation band that is still developing.
However, with a rise in popularity, things change. With more eyes and more adoration pointed towards you, there are different hurdles to face. This is what leads us here, where the band have had to speak out on something very serious. The band posted on their Instagram Story recently that people have been impersonating members of Sleep Token. They have then been approaching fans. First off, this is a disgusting thing to do, not just in terms of disrespecting the band but also their fans but also in terms of deception. Secondly, it is so dangerous, and the implications for why someone would do this can get pretty sinister.

“Followers, it has been brought to our attention that a number of unscrupulous individuals have been masquerading as members of the Sleep Token collective in order to exploit members of our extended community. Let it be known that any unsolicited contact from ANY person claiming to be a member of the collective should be disregarded,” they added. “And their profile reported to the relevant administration. We thank you for your understanding.”
To be in a place where you have to put everything you have built to one side to tell people not to ruin it is something that Sleep Token shouldn’t need to do. Hopefully, by them speaking out on it should put an end to this. And if you know anyone who is doing this, tell them to sort it out.
Sleep Token released their new album, Take Me Back To Eden, back in May to well-deserved critical acclaim.
