Hello and welcome to Singles Lost in Time, where we dig through our library here at idobi (like monks sifting through historical texts) and we dust off some absolute bangers that never got their proper time in the sun.

The Forecast – “These Lights”
–
The Forecast was one of the rare emo-indie bands willing to embrace their rustic roots. “These Lights” rocks hard but you can still hear the twang in the lead guitar tones early in the song. The Forecast really shined when using their multiple vocal melodies a la “We Don’t Talk About Bruno.” The vocalists may not be Broadway stars but holding those intertwining melodies takes skill and we’re here for it.

Hidden in Plain View – “Bleed For You”
–
Hidden in Plain View’s “Bleed For You” is a tough onion to peel. It features sharp rock hooks and stellar drumming. But it also deals with the heavy topic of rape. It acts as a time capsule for outdated mid-2000s feelings towards sexual assault, told from a male friend of the victim’s perspective (as limited as that male-centric point of view was at the time). “Bleed For You” is a great song about a tough topic. Though, its flavor is enhanced when you sprinkle a little hindsight on it.
