For all of those Disney adults and Punk Goes… fans that have been requesting a Disney Goes Pop-Punk album for the past 10 or more years, now is your time! Disney has announced A Whole New Sound album featuring reimagined classic tracks. The first preview of the album includes Simple Plan covering “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” from 1994’s The Lion King, which celebrates its 30th Anniversary this year. The full A Whole New Sound album will be available later this year.
“We wanted to pay homage to Sir Elton John’s original version while also adding our own style to it and making it sound fun and energetic,” Simple Plan shares of their cover. “We’re really stoked by how it turned out and we hope everyone will enjoy it.”

The band adds, “We grew up watching Disney movies with our families and now we get to enjoy them with our own kids, so it’s pretty amazing to have been invited to be on this album.”
Opening through a synth-laden, layered vocalization, Simple Plan immediately transports listeners back to their childhood. While honoring the creativity and brilliance of Elton John’s original performance of “Can You Feel The Love Tonight,” the band injects a playful exuberance that adds a fresh twist to the beloved classic. Check out Simple Plan’s performance of “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” below.
In addition to the release, Simple Plan is scheduled to perform their Disney cover at the D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in California later this summer. Check out the band’s full touring schedule below and grab tickets to see them live here.
