Simple Plan have shared a fresh version of their track “Iconic” with added Jax. The song is taken from the band’s 2022 full-length Harder Than It Looks. A record that combined the band’s knack for penning an irresistible hook with plenty of heartfelt and honest storytelling, it stands out within the band’s discography wonderfully. Just over 20 years on from their debut album, the band are still capable of standing up against their biggest moments and building upon them. “Iconic” is a track that helps to cement that. Sitting somewhere between a radio pop hit and a pop-punk blast of energy. It showcases everything that makes Simple Plan tick. Now, with this new version, they are taking it to new levels of inspiration.
Jax has been on an incredible journey of their own over the past couple of years. Pulling together nearly 14 million followers on TikTok as well as hitting the charts with their track “Victoria’s Secret“, they have been going from strength to strength. It has always been the Simple Plan way to hold up and support upcoming talent, and that is no different with this track. On a song all about telling people not to doubt you in your pursuit of greatness, Jax tells some of her own story in vulnerable and volatile detail. It serves as motivation for never stopping or slowing down, of carrying on pushing until your dreams are a reality.

Jax had this to say about the song and being asked to be involved:
“I was so so so excited when Simple Plan asked me to be part of Iconic! Pierre brought me up to his home. We had such a fun time cutting my verse and then having dinner with his beautiful family! I grew up listening to them and was trying my best not to fangirl. The boys are all ‘Icons’ and it is a dream come true to be on this song with them!”
And guitarist Chuck Comeau had this to add:
“Iconic is a song about dreamers; people who have big, crazy ideas. Often, they’re told to forget about them, to be realistic, to give up on these “crazy” ambitions.
“We wanted to write a song for all these dreamers and tell them they didn’t have to give up. That they should keep going. Keep believing in their crazy dreams. Ignore the haters. Believe in themselves and their talent and use all the negative comments they hear as fuel to stay motivated and prove everyone wrong.”
To round things out, vocalist Pierre Bouvier had this to say as well:
“That’s what we tried to do when we started this band in our parents’ basement 25 years ago and today we were so grateful we kept going and dreaming big. That’s also why we thought Jax was the perfect artist to join us on the song. She embodies everything “Iconic” stands for. She’s forging her own path, breaking rules and doing things her own way, and it’s been cool to watch her use her platform in such a positive and inspiring way. We couldn’t be happier to be friends and have her on this song.”
