Rise Rock n’ Shine: Tribe Friday + Emi Jeen

The birds are chirping, the coffee’s brewing, and the music is spinning,

it’s time to Rise Rock n’ Shine…

Who: Tribe Friday is a band self described as “four kids from the woods in Sweden” and all that nature must have served up a lot of inspiration. Their guitar-driven indie rock sound has been generating buzz with radio and Spotify playlist adds around the world and they’re certain to get even more notice after the release of their EP Waiting For A Sign on 10/23.

What: Take a trip with the new video for “Loosie”.

Why: If the music video didn’t make it clear, “Loosie” is about an acid trip gone wrong. The song itself is packed full of chaotic indie rock energy, picking up steam all throughout its three and a half minutes. If you need a little extra help waking up, this one will have you dancing through your morning routine.

“The lyrics on ‘Loosie’ are about an acid trip gone wrong and we wanted the video to tell you that story in some way. The question was just how we would do that, which is where Charlie comes in. Apart from being a good friend of ours, Charlie has done some amazing work on our other videos (‘If I Were You’, ‘Talk So Loud’), so he was quite the natural pick for translating ‘Loosie’ into a visual piece.

After sending him the song, it literally took two hours until he wrote us back with a fully realized idea. The guy is really enthusiastic, haha. Anyway, the rest of the work was pretty much just figuring out all the practical difficulties of doing a ‘one-shot’-style video with a bunch of people during COVID. It worked out great in the end—mainly thanks to the amazing extras who showed up at 8 AM on a Saturday. An extra shout-out to the extras who did so despite having to wear a mask in the actual video. I’ll never forget seeing the rest of the band making out with Kim-Jong, Trump and Putin. Priceless! Hope you enjoy!” – Tribe Friday

Who: Emi Jeen is a girl from a small town with a big sound. Her voice carries so much emotion you’ll find yourself drawn into whatever she’s feeling on each and every track—and an allure like that makes it certain she’s destined for stardom.

What: Hear “Holy Water”, the second single from her forthcoming collection The Other Side.

Why: “Holy Water” enters your life like a rain storm, slowly but surely taking up all of your senses. The alt-pop beats give the perfect spotlight to Emi’s powerful delivery, which wraps nostalgia and remorse into every note. Whether you’re looking to dive into your feels or just want to sing along at the top of your lungs, this is the song to turn to.

“I’m a lover, I love to love and I’m a good girl, well most of the time. But I do have a bad way to end my love relationships… I keep all my emotions inside until it gets to the boiling point, then it explodes. So I ended my last relationship on the phone while I was on tour and I still feel, to this day, like a monster to have done this to him. I still feel really bad about it, he was a good guy and didn’t deserve it to end that way. The thing is that I never told him how I felt during the whole time we were together. I accumulated everything till the point it was too late. Since then I realized that I can’t keep it all inside, it’s not fair to anyone, especially not to me” – Emi Jeen
