After sharing the news that Riot Fest would take place in Bridgeview, IL at SeatGeek Stadium, the festival has officially announced they’re returning to Douglass Park in the heart of Chicago.
“If there was no Chicago, there’d be no Riot Fest. It grew out of an independent music community where one would be able to see Naked Raygun, Smashing Pumpkins, or Rise Against on a random Saturday night, and you’d still have enough time to go catch a late-night set at Legends and if lucky enough, maybe Buddy (Guy) would be there performing at his venue,” says founder Michael “Riot Mike” Petryshyn in a press release. “We’re not just coming home—we’re coming back passionately, with an even greater purpose and doubling down on our commitment to Chicago, our fans, and our community. Riot Fest was born and bred here; it’s where we belong.”

Additionally, Riot Fest revealed their official slot times. Friday boasts headliners Fall Out Boy and performances from Sum 41, The Aces, Winona Fighter, Drug Church, and more. Saturday’s headliner includes Beck and sets from L.S. Dunes, Sincere Engineer, Heart Attack Man, and beyond. Finally, Sunday’s headliner Slayer will wrap up the fest as well as shows by Gel, Something Corporate, Suicidal Tendencies, and many more.
If you’re attending any day of Riot Fest from September 20-22, you’ll have to catch NOFX as this marks part of their official Final Farewell tour. Check out the full list below.
The move back to Douglass Park comes as a surprise to some fans and Chicago natives. In early June, “Riot Mike” noted that “[The Chicago Park District’s] lack of care for the community, you, and us, ultimately left us no choice [but to move out of the city].” Though, this week, a recent press release from the Chicago Park District says, “Riot Fest’s return is a win for our community, and we look forward to the continued positive impact it will bring.”
Currently, @riotfest’s Instagram comments are full of questions from individuals who have already purchased accommodations in the suburbs as well as concerns about how the community (who historically has protested Riot Fest’s location in their neighborhood) will fare. As of now, organizers have not fully addressed these concerns.
