Powfu is one of the breakout stars of the last few years, and now they are looking to continue the wave with his new track “no balls”. They had their big moment back in 2020 with the massive “Death Bed (Coffee for Your Head)”. A song which now has been streamed over 1.5 BILLION times. A lo-fi masterstroke that kicked off the boom of TikTok viral hits, his time since has been spent solidifying the promise that it showed.
Serving as the first piece of music to be taken from his new project, Gathered By The Lantern, which will be released on October 6, it is a song that feels like the past, present and future of Powfu. A soft acoustic intro leads into a downtrodden vocal refrain all about not having the courage to speak up on what is bothering you. A heartbroken ode to commitment and taking the plunge into the unknown. It’s a well-known feeling when it comes to falling head over heels with someone. Presented in a vulnerable tongue-in-cheek manner, it’s a vibrant start to a new adventure.

Powfu himself had this to say about the song:
“no balls” talks about how commitment is scary but it’s worth it in the end. True love is not leaving when the feelings disappear, but staying together until the feelings come back.”
Powfu released their last EP, Flooding The Gates, earlier this year, a collaboration with Ouse & Snøw. A powerful trio of alternative talents, it’s a tranquil and thrilling experience, to say the least.
