Point North ‘Prepare For Despair’ On Brand New Album

The Los Angeles-based trio, Point North are back today with their sophomore album Prepare For Despair. It has been three years since the band’s debut record, Brand New Vision, and fans are in for a treat with the new album. Point North has reached a new threshold with the crafting of their music, delivering a heavier sound that might surprise some listeners. However, it feels right. Perhaps it even feels like what the band was destined for all along. They have always had the skills to blend radio-pop melodies into rock music, but now they are blending it into something more sonically aggressive. The choice to lean into a more abrasive sound certainly compliments the themes on the record.

Vocalist Jon Sundin spoke on the record, sharing: “We’ve always been an ever-changing band. Every release holds its own spot in our discography. Lately, I’ve produced a lot of heavy records. We grew up on Killswitch Engage and Underoath, and we’ve toured with a lot of heavy bands and have seen what works for us live. We wanted that energy. Art mirrors the moment. There’s a ton of despair right now and everyone is questioning everything. People are sad and angry. The album’s a reflection of how I’m feeling, how the band is feeling, and probably what most of the world is feeling too. So, we’re basically saying, ‘Buckle up’.”
