Pale Waves has delivered another glimpse into their forthcoming full-length with their new single, “Gravity.” The twinkling track is steeped in personal conflict and details the tension between Heather Baron-Gracie and a previous partner. The frontwoman opens up in the track about her partner’s ebb and flow struggle to accept her sexual identity and their relationship over her religious beliefs.
“‘Gravity’ is about a woman who chose Jesus over me,” Heather shares. “It took the longest of all of the songs on the album to finish. I think we must have rewritten it millions of times to get it to where it is now.”
“Gravity” will appear alongside previously released singles “Glasgow” and “Perfume” on the UK group’s eagerly anticipated record, Smitten, which is scheduled to arrive via Dirty Hit on September 27. You can pre-order the album here.
“I found myself writing about not just a certain time period, but my whole life, from years ago,” Heather shares about the album. “When I fall in love, I fall deep, and it’s interesting to me that you can feel so fascinated and smitten with someon, and then they can become a total stranger. So I feel like ‘Smitten’ really summarized perfectly what I felt for others at a certain point.”
Pale Waves will tour the UK this fall, starting in October, before two special, back-to-back performances in Japan in December. Check out their touring schedule below, and purchase your tickets here.
