Queen Elizabeth II Dies at 96
Queen Elizabeth II died today at the age of 96, after reigning for 70 years. A statement made by Buckingham Palace said that she died “peacefully.” Her family was called to her side after doctors expressed concern for her health. The Queen made history as the longest reigning monarch in the UK’s history and the second longest serving monarch in global history. To put it into perspective, she reigned through 14 US Presidents, and for 30% of the time the United States has been a nation.
Elizabeth II became queen at the age of 27 after her father, King George VI, passed. She and her late husband, Prince Philip, had four children including Charles III, who will now become the head of the Royal Family. King Charles released a statement regarding the passing of his mother, “The death of my beloved Mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family. We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved Mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world.” King Charles concluded, “During this period of mourning and change, my family and I will be comforted and sustained by our knowledge of the respect and deep affection in which The Queen was so widely held.”
Queen Elizabeth’s passing is felt around the world.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio is hosting a Nine Inch Nails Fan Day on September 23rd. While there, you can visit the band’s exhibit, watch a screening of their 2020 induction, take advantage of photo ops, perform NIN music with the Hall of Fame’s backup band, and buy exclusive merch.
