Today we talk about the controversy surrounding Joe Rogan, Halsey’s new tour, and Rihanna’s baby announcement. We also remember the life of former Miss USA Cheslie Kryst.
Neil Young Wants to Leave Spotify
IIn a time when we have access to the majority of information within seconds, there is a lot of room for people to get it wrong. Artists are currently threatening to take themselves off of Spotify if the platform doesn’t do something about Joe Rogan‘s podcast The Joe Rogan Experience. This protest was started by Neil Young and has gained traction after Rogan has allowed the spread of misinformation about COVID-19 and vaccinations on his podcast. People like Young are pointing out how dangerous it is to be spreading theories that have no real evidence or scientific support. Rogan has now responded to the backlash on his own Instagram. He mentions that he will try to be better with his large platform by having guests from both sides of an opinion. Spotify has responded by saying that they will now add a “content advisory” warning on anything that discusses COVID-19.

Halsey Goes on Tour
Halsey is returning to tour for the first time since the pandemic. Their last tour was halted in 2020 due to COVID-19 and since then a lot of life changes happened, including having a baby and a new album in 2021.The star went to Instagram to announce that a new tour will kick off in May in Florida and end in California in July. While we all try to figure out how to approach life in a way that is safe, Halsey is only performing in venues that are outdoors. If you had tickets to their previous tour, you’ll be able to purchase tickets to this one starting tomorrow, and then they go on sale to the general public on February 4th!

Rihanna Announces She’s Pregnant
The internet is collectively screaming this morning as Rihanna announced she is having her first baby with A$AP Rocky. Pictures dropped across several platforms from a photoshoot the couple did in New York, with Rihanna showing off her baby bump. While everyone is sending their congratulations, Twitter can’t help but do what Twitter loves to do and has been rolling out the jokes. The tweets cover everything from still wanting a new album from Rihanna to pointing out how this baby is already a thousand times cooler than we can ever be. All we can say is, we love some good news on the internet. Congrats to Rihanna and A$AP Rocky!

Remembering Cheslie Kryst
Former Miss USA Cheslie Kryst passed away yesterday at the age of 30. Kryst died after jumping off of a building, according to the New York police. Further circumstances have not been released. In such a short life, Kryst made waves in our world and left a legacy behind. On top of being the oldest woman to win Miss USA and reporting as a news correspondent for Extra, she was a lawyer who would offer free help to prisoners serving unjust sentences and fought for reform in our justice system. She was an avid and outspoken supporter of movements like Black Lives Matter and #MeToo. Our love goes out to her friends and family.Â
