Ahead of their forthcoming live album, Me First And The Gimme Gimmes have launched a bold reimagining of Olivia Rodrigo’s 2021 smash hit, “good 4 u.”

“Since our usual audience is, well, decidedly not 15, we felt obligated to learn a song from this whole new… millennium thing,” frontman Spike Slawson shares in a press release. “After deep reflection and questionable late-night pop radio binges, we determined ‘good 4 u’ perfectly captured our band’s values, integrity, and, uh, musical stylings.”

Opening the recording, vocalist Slawson says, “We’re a band of all ages, of all genres, and this song is proof. I know you’re gonna dig it; it’s very contemporary.” Channeling the same unapologetic punk-rock attitude as Rodrigo, the group infuses their rendition with a vibrant, guitar-driven approach that is equally as dance-worthy and middle-fingers-in-the-air as the original release.

The group’s cover of “good 4 u” will appear on their forthcoming 13-track live album, Blow It…At Madison’s Quinceañera, which will arrive on June 14 courtesy of Fat Wreck Chords. You can pre-order the album here.

Me First And The Gimme Gimmes will conclude their U.S. run this weekend on Sunday, May 5, in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Following the release of their live album, they will head overseas this summer for a handful of shows. Jake Kiley of Strung Out will take over guitar duties in place of Joey Cape for the band’s July date. Check out the group’s current touring schedule below and grab tickets to see them here
