Maggie Lindemann called, she’s taking back spooky season. Marking her first new release of the year and her first new music since her debut album SUCKERPUNCH dropped last fall, Lindemann has tapped her long-time friend and frequent collaborator, Siiickbrain, for an enthralling new team-up on “deprecating.” Additionally, “deprecating” stands as Lindemann and Siiickbrain’s fourth collaboration following the release of 2021’s “Dopamine” and “GASLIGHT!” and 2022’s “break me!”
This hauntingly evocative track delves deep into a maelstrom of emotions, deftly encapsulating the themes of manipulation, deceit, and the tumultuous aftermath of a toxic relationship. Within the harmonious cadence of “deprecating,” the two young artists ascend to the height of their creative prowess, producing a spellbinding sonic fusion that mesmerizes listeners with its raw and unfiltered intensity.

In a captivating display of lyrical finesse and emotional exploration, the two artists deliver their resounding strength with lines such as, “How can you sleep in the dark/When you’re killing someone that is harmless/Invading my mind when I’m conscious/Believe in the bullshit you’re lost in,” and, “If you love me, would you let me go/If you loved me, you would let it show/Manipulation nightmares lucid/Deprecating mind pollution.” Effortlessly, Lindemann and Siiickbrain capture the turmoil and chaotic back-and-forth pain of a toxic relationship, as well as the complex efforts that are necessary to break the hold of a partnership like this.
Speaking on behalf of the inspiration behind “deprecating,” Lindemann shares, “‘deprecating’ is about being manipulated. It’s about someone who is constantly installing a false narrative in your head. You’re trying to live your own life, and they are just constantly installing a fear in you to keep you from living.”
