L.S. Dunes is a gift to alternative music, full of endless sonic surprises. Today, the quintet released their new single, “Old Wounds.” With haunting stillness, the band departs from the intensity of their 2022 LP Past Lives, taking a slower approach to the release without sacrificing any raw instrumentals.
Though, this is in staunch contrast to Dunes’ preceding 2023 single, “Benadryl Subreddit,” which begins with a screaming Anthony Green, and chock-full of “desert energy.” Talk about range.

For major fans of the Circa Survive and The Sound Of Animals Fighting singer should be happy to know that this vocal performance harkens back to Green’s psych-rock project Fuckin Whatever featuring Taking Back Sunday’s Adam Lazzara and John Nolan, as well as Grouplove’s Benjamin Homola. On a #TuckerThursday ahead of the release, drummer Tucker Rule also shared that “Old Wounds” is one of his favorite songs the band has done, so you know it’s good.
In a recent Instagram post, the band shared: “‘Old Wounds’ is officially out now and available everywhere. This was the second song we recorded out in Joshua Tree at @ranchodelalunastudio with @alexnewps. When this song came together we knew right away that it was something really special and we couldn’t wait to share it with all of you. Now go out and listen to ‘Old Wounds’ on repeat!”
In classic L.S. Dunes fashion, they offered their fans some ideas to improve the already exceptional experience, “Pro tip: Best listened to under the night sky,” they shared.
Lucky watchers at the L.S. Dunes Garden Grove date got to see the live premiere of the song two weeks before the release. However, if you weren’t at the show, you might be able to hear “Old Wounds” in person on the upcoming Pierce The Veil Jaws Of Life Tour featuring direct support from L.S. Dunes, as well as Dayseeker and Destroy Boys. Plus, the band will be at Riot Fest on September 17. Check out the full list of dates below, and grab your tickets here.
