Ahead of the release of her forthcoming record Girlfriend Material, Lauran Hibberd shared her new single “2nd prettiest girl (in the world)” with an accompanying music video.

In her new pink-tinged production, Hibberd “got to make the video of my 11 year old dreams.” She continues, “I was always anxious to go to sleepovers, this is how they go right?” Basically, I wish every single sleepover of my youth was this colorful, cute, and supportive.

With satirical lyrics over nostalgia-inducing pop-rock melodies, Hibberd sings, “I look better in silver, it matches my eyes/If I’m a first place loser, I guess I’m fine with being lucky No. 2.” Check out the vibrant music video and track below.

In a hilarious, twisted piece of her lore, Hibberd notes that this track is based in reality.

“An unfortunate true story, does fortunately always start a good song. I went on a date last year, and was told I was the second prettiest girl in the room. I actually said thank you (I need help),” she says. “I started writing this song the next day. It became my personality.”

Additionally, “2nd prettiest girl (in the world)” is definitely a standout for the artist. “This has been one of my personal favorites on my new album ‘girlfriend material’ for ages, it’s torturously relatable,” she explains.
