Arriving as the third preview to her forthcoming full-length album, Laura Jane Grace has issued her hypnotizing and melancholy new single, “Cuffing Season.” The new single, as well as “Dysphoria Hoodie” and the titular track, will appear on Grace’s new record, Hole In My Head, set to drop on February 16, 2024.

“Cuffing Season” opens with the soft, melodic strumming of an acoustic guitar, setting the stage for Grace’s commanding and distinctive vocals to pierce through the music with precision. Delving into the depths of existentialism, the passage of time as you get older, heartbreak, and the raw pain of experience, the lyrics reveal a vulnerable narrative. Articulating these themes, Grace sings, “And one day I’ll feel good again/Until then I’ll just white knuckle it/If you’re not afraid to die why don’t you fucking prove it?” This powerful refrain encapsulates the emotional complexity woven into Grace’s lyricism and helps to define the track’s central message.

Grace shares that the new track reflects the hurt and heartbreak that you experience as you get older and how “it gets harder and harder to let yourself be open and vulnerable.” She continues, “But when you do, it can be so worth it, even if you just end up hurt and heartbroken again. In the end, I don’t think you regret those kinds of losses. I think you regret not trying.”

The “Dysphoria Hoodie” artist is set to hit the road beginning on March 2 following the release of Hole In My Head. Thelma And The Sleaze and Dikembe will act as support across the tour. You can check out Laura Jane Grace’s full touring schedule below and get tickets here.
