Laura Jane Grace, founder of Against Me!, just announced she’s releasing a new solo record, Hole In My Head. It might be her birthday today, but she is definitely the one giving fans a gift, as she is also heading out on a tour beginning in March and dropped a brand-new music video for the album’s title track.
The album will be out on February 16, 2024, via Polyvinyl Record Co. and can be pre-ordered here. Depicting a traditional, monotonous 9-5 job, the music video sees the main character breaking outside of a normal routine, literally. Over uplifting guitar strums, Grace sings, “You could learn to feel less/That would be a real bore/Baby, dream your dream.” Check out the “Hole In My Head” music video below, which Gilbert Trejo directed.
Ahead of today’s release and series of announcements, Grace shared a new single “Dysphoria Hoodie” in early October. She shared, “This is a song about gender dysphoria and your favorite hooded sweatshirt. Any trans person out there knows what a dysphoria hoodie is—it’s the hoodie you wear when feeling low and dysphoric, and you don’t want the world reading your gender. Hide your body shape, hide your head, disappear as much as you can. Wrap yourself up in it like a blanket anywhere you go. Make your flesh become cotton. Instant protection from the outside world. My dysphoria hoodie happens to be an Adidas hoodie, so yes, this is, in fact, really just a tribute song to my favorite Adidas hoodie.”
