Following the success of their latest single/video release for “Love At First Sight,” LANY has issued the next preview of their forthcoming album, i really really hope so, in the form of “Alonica.” The track immediately strikes a chord with its mesmerizing melodies, heartfelt lyrics, and distinctive blend of electronic and indie-pop elements. “Alonica” is the second single pulled from the group’s anticipated full-length, which is set to release on September 29.
From the soft opening notes and vocalist Paul Jason Klein’s alluring delivery, “Alonica” draws you in with its lush synth, serene guitar work, and delicate layers. The song kicks in with a captivating guitar riff, setting a somber mood bursting with longing. Klein’s smooth and expressive vocals effortlessly carry the song’s nostalgic and introspective lyrics, adding depth and vulnerability to the overall composition.

Accompanied by a visually stunning music video that falls perfectly into the LANY catalog, “Alonica” further immerses listeners in its evocative atmosphere. The video’s ethereal imagery, filled with a more muted darkness than their previous releases, perfectly complements the song’s nostalgic tone.
Leading up to the release, Klein shares on his personal social media accounts, “There’s just nothing in the world that hurts quite like betrayal. I’m convinced it’s the number one worst feeling and human experience, and I found myself being hit right across the face with it. As the days and weeks trickled on, I looked in the mirror and noticed the sparkle in my eye had disappeared. My fire for life had been robbed, and my faith in humanity was gone. I was a shell of a person – angry, disappointed, broken – and desperate to get away from the one thing that had hurt me the most… people.”

The post continues, “You see… I’ve always worn my heart on my sleeve. then I started getting paid to do so. And I guess I assumed people respected that and – in turn – would protect that. Regrets? I have plenty, and I should have been way pickier with who I entrusted the pearls of my heart to. But… thru reflection and isolation, I eventually found ‘Alonica’ … a place within myself where having me and being me was enough for me. I stopped looking to others and outside sources for love, belonging, and validation and became my own well of joy and satisfaction.”
“The journey was brutal to say the least, but one that was essential if I was gonna live to see another week on this planet. But even in my darkest nights (that no one on earth will ever know about) when I felt invisible and forgotten, I felt the stars looking down on me. It’s why the star is upside down. And slowly but surely, I began to see the sparkle in my eye and the strength of my spirit come back to life. it’s why the star was painted over my eye. and instead of saying ‘I hope not’ I started saying ‘I hope so.’ It’s why the album is called i really really hope so. everything is on purpose… and I pray u find ur Alonica.”
