Following up his pop-punk-laced September 2023 release “Friends With Your EX,” Landon Barker has returned with his new single, “Over You.”
Produced by his father, blink-182‘s Travis Barker, the heart-wrenching track opens with melancholy acoustic strums before burgeoning into a yearning chorus. The 20-year-old artist trades in pop-punk vocals for glowing soul infused with gentle rock. Many theorize that the sad anthem refers to his recent split from social media personality Charli D’Amelio. The pair dated for over a year before their February 2024 split.
“Some people you will never get over until the day you die,” Barker says, “‘Over You’ is a breakup song that relates to me personally, and I hope it resonates with you too.” Check out the full track below.
According to an Instagram story by Mod Sun, the God Save The Teen singer directed Barker‘s forthcoming music video. “Directed a movie for my brother @landonasherbarker starring @tarayummyy super proud of this one real movie,” he said.
“Over You” Lyrics:
I can’t get out of my bed
Your voice inside of my head
Our favorite song on repeat
I’ll try my best to forget
All of the words that you said
Act like it’s nothing to me
This happens every time
I wish that I could rewind
And end things differently
But can’t bring myself to move on
I miss you now that you’re gone
I feel it terminally
Yeah, ’cause I can’t help myself
But I’ll get over you baby
Over my dead body
There’s nothing I can do
‘Cause you were never just somebody
Still remember the highs, the lows
You come, you go
You leave me broken …
But I’ll get over you baby
Over my dead body
You still inside of my blood
I won’t be done till I’m done
However you run through my veins
If I got air in my lungs baby
Then you still the one
Nothing comes close to the same
Oh, still, can’t help myself
But I’ll get over you baby
Over my dead body
There’s nothing I can do
‘Cause you were never just somebody
Still remember the highs, the lows
You come, you go
You leave me broken …
But I’ll get over you baby
Over my dead body
I can’t understand
Turning all the damage into madness over you
Oh baby, I can’t stand
Feeling nothing worse could happen
I know it’s tragic but not as bad as losing you
But I’ll get over you baby
Over my dead body
But there’s nothing I can do
Because you were never just somebody
I still remember the highs, the lows
You come, you go
You leave me broken …
But I’ll get over you if it’s the last thing I do
