Following the release of her latest track “Life Is A Storm,” Julia Wolf has dropped a stormy lyric video to accompany the track.
Produced by Erik Ron and mixed by Anthony Reeder, the track builds from a single echoing guitar into powerful instrumentation backed by drums and bass. Wolf’s vocalizations are a mixture of whispers and hearty tones. Her notes follow the backtrack’s crescendos and soft points that give the track its ballad-like feel.
Written alongside Ravenna Golden, the lyrics take the listener through the forest of Wolf’s thoughts as she tells a story of hardship. As the song progresses, she eventually starts to experience more positive outlook again. Lyrics like “There’s a fog by the shore, there’s a fog in the mirror,” turn to “There’s blood in my cheeks again, my handwriting’s changing.”

The conflicting emotions come together in the chorus, where Wolf expresses her anxieties surrounding her feelings. “When death becomes calm, when my life is a storm/I will freak myself out, nothing freaks me out more/I’m scared to look down, there’s blood on the floor/Yes, I know I’m alive, as I’m cutting the chord.”
Wolf finishes the track on a reflective yet hopeful note as she contemplates her future. “Pull apart my insides just to know what it feels like/When I’m put back together, would it make me feel”? The track is as relatable as it is emotional. Many people deal with their issues of self-doubt and the fight it takes to overcome those thoughts.
Simple, with the words floating above a stormy sea, Julia Wolf let’s the track speak for itself. Check out the lyric video for “Life Is A Storm” below.
