Inbox Jukebox #130: Sarah Barrios x Marc E. Bassy, Fly By Midnight x Jake Miller, Mokita x Stand Atlantic, Ray Hodge, Kennyhoopla x Travis Barker

…This is the Inbox Jukebox:

Sarah Barrios x Marc E. Bassy – “Bedroom Floor Feelings”

Jazzy-pop breeziness with a hip-hop breakbeat. That’s the flow Sarah Barrios and Marc E. Bassy bring to their “Bedroom Floor Feelings”. Barrios’ verse floats over a percussive guitar that’s perfectly attuned to her sax infused timbre. Meanwhile, in another bedroom, Bassy’s verse introduces a danceable bassline that adds extra bounce to his effervescent verse. The hook is real. Before you know it you’ll be high on the feelings that tend to mess with your mind…but with harmonies like these, and the brightness of the keys, you can’t help but have a ball with “Bedroom Floor Feelings”.

Fly By Midnight x Jake Miller – “Automatic”

“Automatic” is as expansive as the glow of first love. The instrumentation flutters like butterflies in your stomach, the vocals are chocolate hearts and sugar coated kisses, and even the backing vocals seem to sigh along with the harmonies. Those ahhh ah ahh ahhhhs are even more cinematic than the lyrics claim. FBM & Jake Miller are accomplices who steal away with your emotions. “Automatic” makes you want to watch a movie where the romance is breakneck and overwhelming and leaves you breathless.

Mokita x Stand Atlantic – “I’m Sorry”

If you’ve ever drifted down a river in an innertube, with the sun lighting your face in a warm summer blush, then you know exactly what “I’m Sorry” sounds like. The harmonies are lush and layered over a cascading guitar—so the feels are just a little bit country. And there’s something about the way the vocals are stacked, as soft as pillows piled up on a porch swing (with just as much sway). It all flirts with the echo in the instrumentation until it’s almost lonely, even while Mokita and Stand Atlantic fill up every space to melodic fullness.

IJ SHOUTOUT: Ray Hodge – “Boom”

Shoutout to Ray Hodge who just rolled up on the da club and hit it in the back of the head like “Boom”.

IJ SHOUTOUT: Kennyhoopla x Tarvis Barker – “ESTELLA//”

Shoutout to Kennyhoopla and la bello Barker for giving us an instant classic that feels like we’ve been head-nodding to it since forever (but we still can’t get enough). xxoo to “ESTELLA//”.
