Holding Absence Announce New Album

Holding Absence have been making a name for themselves on both sides of the Atlantic over the last year. From playing some of their biggest-ever shows in the UK to touring the US with Dayseeker and The Plot In You, their emotive post-hardcore has been touching every heart that it comes into contact. And now they are ready to reveal their third full-length album, the follow-up to 2021’s The Greatest Mistake Of My Life.

It’s going to be called The Noble Art Of Self Destruction and will be released on August 25th via SharpTone Records. The band had this to say about it:

“Today, we are pleased to announce the third Holding Absence album, The Noble Art of Self Destruction will be released on August 25! After an insanely busy and fulfilling album cycle for our second record, last October we spent a month in Jukasa Studios Canada, to record more new music.

This record — the third in a trilogy — is by far our most conceptually rich and expansive body of work to date. We feel like these songs are almost a love letter to everything Holding Absence, and can’t wait to show everybody just how much space we have managed to cover, and how hard we were able to push ourselves with these songs.”

The tracklisting looks like this:

01. “Head Prison Blues”
02. “A Crooked Melody”
03. “False Dawn”
04. “Scissors”
05. “Honey Moon”
06. “Death, Nonetheless”
07. “Her Wings”
08”. These New Dreams”
09. “Liminal”
10. “The Angel In The Marble”

And the artwork like this:

There is a new track for you to listen to as well. It’s called “False Dawn” and is pure Holding Absence worship. Combining the gripping drama of their 2019 self-titled debut and the bright melody of The Greatest Mistake Of My Life, it’s a beautifully addictive track full of heart.

The band commented:

“We are ecstatic to be dropping our brand new single ‘False Dawn’ today. This is definitely a personal favorite for all of us on the record! A somewhat defeatist song about denouncing expectations, and coming to grips with failure, this song is a quintessential Holding Absence song, with its uptempo energy and downtrodden introspection. We hope you enjoy!”

You can also hear the previously released “A Crooked Melody” right now as well:
