Let’s just start by collectively thanking Paramore’s frontwoman Hayley Williams. This weekend at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas, NV, she vehemently spoke out against former President and current Republican candidate Donald Trump.
During the band’s performance on Friday, September 20, of “Big Man, Little Dignity,” which features lines such as, “No offense but you, you got no integrity,” Williams proudly spoke against Donald Trump. She shares, “Project 2025 is Donald Trump’s playbook for controlling and punishing women, poor people, people of color, and the LGBTQ+ community.”

She continues, “It is time for all Americans to band together and to finally defeat the Trump agenda. And the only way to do that is by confronting him at the polls. Do you want to live in a dictatorship? Well, show up and vote!”
In response to criticism and backlash from some X (formerly Twitter) users, including Elon Musk, who accused her of reading from “cue cards” and labeled her as a “paid actor,” with one user going as far as to say, “Fuck Hayley Williams and fuck Paramore. Never putting a single penny into them again” (good riddance, if you ask me), Williams clarified her intentions.
In response to a screenshot comment accusing her of being “paid or blackmailed,” Williams shared a statement on her Instagram Story.

“whoever you are, i typed out my speech and had a crew member hold it near the camera for me in case i got nervous bc what i had to say was important and i didn’t want to trip up in the moment. didn’t end up looking at it though… that’s because i prepared. finally, not only was i *not* paid to make the speech but we (paramore) didn’t get paid to play that radio fest either. just out here kicking ass for free i guess. thanks so much for your concern and for spelling my name right, bye!”
Bye is right! Thank you, Hayley Williams, for using your voice and encouraging everyone to get out there and vote.
