From First To Last Launch New Single Without Sonny Moore

From First To Last 2024

Screamo legends From First To Last have returned with another new single, marking the group’s second release of 2024 after not releasing music in six years. This past Friday, September 27, the band released “REV,” a follow-up to their latest offering, “GENESIS,” released this past July. The band’s return is once again without vocalist Sonny Moore aka Skrillex, who rejoined the band for a brief stint from 2017-2019.

Their current roster includes vocalist/guitarist Matt Good, guitarist/vocalist Travis Richter, and drummer Derek Bloom. This isn’t the first time Good has taken on a majority of the vocal duties—the band had the same lineup when they released their Self Titled album in 2008. You can listen to “REV” below.

Good has cited anime and Japanese media as a major influence on the direction of the band. When speaking to Crunchyroll he added, “So basically going forward, this is just going to be the vibe. We have some more songs we’re working on that are already down that road. One of the ideas I had is, like, you know, doing this thing called ‘Revelation’ that would be the end of the story we’re telling with these songs. And then move on to a new story.”

He continues, “It’s really fun trying to write from the perspective of telling a story or doing these thematic things because it makes writing really interesting again… I get to be a creative storyteller. Now that I’ve been doing it that way, it’s been really cool. You still get to inject yourself into it. It’s nice that it doesn’t have to be like 100 percent literal the whole time.”

With the current wave of nostalgia running rampant through the scene, with fests like When We Were Young and the imminent return of Warped Tour, seeing From First To List live in the near future seems more likely than not. Their last live performance dates all the way to 2019, so their return to the stage is highly anticipated.
