Deafheaven have announced they will be reissuing their sophomore album, Sunbather on November 17th via Death Wish Inc. This re-release is to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the record and will include several remixed and remastered versions of the tracks from the same producer Deafheaven worked with on the original. Along with this news, the band has also shared dates to a North American tour this fall where the they will be playing the record in full.
Deafheaven Guitarist Kerry McCoy spoke on the anniversary, sharing: “Sunbather gave us a career. Before then we were working jobs and had these grandiose dreams, but that was the record that turned us into a real band. Because of that record, we ended up meeting a lot of people around the world that changed our lives and set us on the path we’re on now. The easy answer was it was totally positive and overwhelming, but in actuality it was also kind of frustrating. We were grateful for the positive notes, but there were people who thought we were the worst thing to ever happen to metal and others who thought that we claimed to invent the genre. Neither were true.”
