It’s hard to believe, but the formative years of metalcore are hitting their 20-year milestones. Sean Mott of Metalcore Nerds recently spoke with former Blessthefall frontman and current Escape The Fate leader Craig Mabbitt about the upcoming 20th anniversary of His Last Walk, Blessthefall’s debut album from November 2006.
The two discussed the album’s impact on the metalcore scene and the possibility of a reunion tour, with Mabbitt and current Blessthefall vocalist Beau Bokan sharing the stage. Check out a snippet of their chat below and Mott’s full chat with Mabbitt here.
His Last Walk was such a core metalcore album for me when I was younger.
Same for me, and I was on it. I still, to this day, will bring up to the guys who are still there from His Last Walk and be like, “Hey man, it would be really cool to do something, you know?” We’re starting to get to a point where it’s been too long. You know what I mean? Like the Dumb And Dumber sequel, I think you waited too long to do this movie. It’s like, “Guys, let’s do something before it’s too far gone.”
Nostalgia is such a big thing. If you guys did a tour or a show with you on vocals doing His Last Walk front to back, I feel like that would be massive.
I’ve mentioned it to Jared [Warth] and Eric [Lambert]. Eric is like, “Well, what would Beau [Bokan] do?” And I’m like, “Let’s do it together, man! Let’s both sing the songs together. Let’s do one local Arizona show to celebrate the album that made it possible for all of us to still be doing our respective things in the music industry. Let’s just celebrate it.” I’m a super nostalgic guy, so I always wanna do things like that.
I would love to see that. I’m gonna try and manifest that.
Let’s manifest it, dude.
