Following the release of June’s “i love my man (he just doesn’t know it yet),” alternative royalty carolesdaughter, aka Thea Taylor, is back with “beautiful girls (get the ugliest world)” via Arista Records. The new track is studded with ethereal vocals and modern boppy electronic sonics. “Is it my fault that I’ve seen the worst? No, I’m just a sweetheart in the ugliest world,” the artist sings.

carolesdaughter explains, “The sensitive soul is the more likely to attract negativity, envy, or exploitation from others who are threatened by or resentful of their light ‘beautiful girls…’ symbolizes the struggle to maintain one’s goodness in a world that can be cruel and unforgiving.”

She continues, “You can never truly know what someone has endured just by looking at them. Experiencing the darkest sides of people and the world makes you appreciate the beauty in everything else—including the beauty within yourself.”

“beautiful girls (get the ugliest world)” Lyrics:

Human to human,
Does anyone care?
Wonder when I’ll be myself again
Brushing my teeth, brushing my hair.
Wondered when I’d do that again.
I can’t change it.
You can’t help me.
How I look has never saved me.
Beautiful girls get the ugliest world,
I’m just a sweetheart in the ugliest world.
Is it my fault that I’ve seen the worst?
No I’m just a sweetheart in the ugliest world.
Do my makeup, starting over.
All my flaws, it’s a cover
Pick out my outfit, peel my complexion
Been feeling basic Huh? Huh?
Don’t know what my real hair looks like.
You know why my clothes don’t fit, right?
I should never show this side
Beautiful girls get the ugliest world,
I’m just a sweetheart in the ugliest world.
Is it my fault that I’ve seen the worst?
Oh, I’m just a sweetheart in the ugliest world.
You’d never know it. I’m broken
Make you feel good. Never show it.
