Blind Channel Strips Back “DEADZONE” At idobi Studios

Blind Channel Dead Zone

Following the release of one of their latest tracks, the August 2023 single “DEADZONE,” Finnish nu-metal group Blind Channel stopped by the idobi Radio Studios in Los Angeles. The six-piece—comprised of Joel Hokka (vocals), Niko Moilanen (vocals), Joonas Porko (guitarist), Olli Matela (bassist), Tommi Lalli (drummer), and Aleksi Kaunisvesi (percussionist)—skillfully deconstructs the track to expose its bare bones.

In contrast to the original’s larger-than-life format and sound, the group seamlessly peels back the layers of the track, allowing the rawness and vulnerability of the single to take center stage. Exchanging the intricate instrumentation, heavy beats, and expansive production for the simplicity of two acoustic guitars, a tambourine, and a cajón drum setup, vocalists Hokka and Moilanen become the center point of “DEADZONE.” Through this transformation, the chorus evolves into a powerful message: “Everything around is dying/Tell me why we keep on trying (oh whoa)/Living in a deadzone (oh)/Living in a deadzone.”

Check out Blind Channel’s stripped-back rendition of “DEADZONE” below.

Blind Channel is scheduled to embark on the EXIT EMOTIONS European Tour ahead of their performances at Welcome To Rockville in Daytona Beach, FL, and Sonic Temple in Columbus, OH. You can grab tickets to see them live here.
