New York rock and hardcore hero Jesse Malin officially shared a new song from his upcoming Silver Patron Saints: The Songs Of Jesse Malin. Previously, the artist shared Bleachers‘ rendition of “Prisoners of Paradise” ahead of the full LP’s September 20 release date. Today, Malin and Green Day‘s Billie Joe Armstrong shared the “Bobby Sox” singer’s cover of “Black Haired Girl.”
The compilation record spans Malin’s entire discography from Heart Attack to D Generation all the way to his solo work—and all of Malin’s hits are covered by his best music friends. All proceeds from the forthcoming record will directly benefit Jesse Malin’s Sweet Relief Fund—a fund dedicated to helping Malin through his treatments for his rare spinal stroke resulting in paralysis.
Malin shares, “@billiejoearmstrong ’s version of Black Haired Girl really touches my heart and brings me back to when I first recorded the demo. I sent it to him and his response was so strong and supportive, that we ended up putting it out on his label, Adeline Records. His rendition has everything I love about him and @greenday – the attitude, the swagger, and that power-pop fire. I hope it lifts your spirits up the way it lifted mine. Thank you Bill[i]e, @jasonwhiteguitarish, Bill Schneider and @duganchris you guys rule !!”

Armstrong adds, “Jesse is a dear friend to me… I love his songwriting. He is all heart…His passion is endless. We send each other YouTube videos (mostly old Ramones clips and New York Dolls). Every time I’m in New York he goes out of his way to make me, my friends and my family feel at home. He’s always down for a laugh or a shoulder to cry on. Jesse, we love you and we’d do anything for you.”
