Between You & Me have kickstarted their new chapter with a bang. The band recently revealed that they are independent for the first time in their career, and their first new music in 18 months demonstrates how they are taking the newfound freedom in their stride.
Their new single is called “Nevermind” and is about as sunkissed and carefree as you’re going to get. Inspired by the magic in the air that makes California such a special place, the band channelled all of the beautiful hopefulness of Los Angeles into three minutes of joyful and wide-eyed pop-punk. It’s a summer anthem in the making and one that demonstrates just how hungry BY&M still are and how ready they are for whatever the future holds.
Oh, and if you look carefully at the music video, you’ll spot a little cameo from The 1975’s Matty Healy.
Vocalist Jake Wilson has explained how that particular cameo happened via a TikTok:
“We filmed the music video in LA as California is a strong theme in the track. We wanted to film at a bunch of iconic Hollywood locations, so we headed over to Hollywood Boulevard to do the walk of fame. When we were there we were super surprised when we saw Matty Healy driving a Cadillac convertible. What I didn’t realise was the videographer that we were with was also filming and Cadillac as he thought it looked pretty cool. When we finally got a cut of the music video, we realised Matty Healy was in the clip, and it actually looked pretty cool.”
So yeah, time to get stuck in:
