As It Is has announced their indefinite hiatus from music. The news came from frontman Patty Walters in a recent Instagram post. Fans have been asking the act when to expect new music and shows, and while this isn’t the answer we were hoping for, we at least finally have an answer.
“It will come as no surprise to hear that music is not currently at the forefront of my life.” In his social media statement, Walters says, “I’m not ready for that change. I’ve wanted to share something like this for a long time now. It’s been headline to write, and I hope it’s been healing for you to read.” He also doesn’t discount an As It Is return, eventually. But it encourages fans to enjoy what they’ve put out musically. He notes that his feelings about making music could be “changing in the future.”

Former guitarist Ben Langford-Biss commented on the post, expressing love and gratitude for the act he and Walters founded. “Proud of you for everything we did together and everything you’ve done since. The world does not deserve you.” Last year, they joined forces again for a collaboration single for Langford-Biss’s new project, Bleak Soul. The song “Nostalgia” is about how looking back at old times hinders moving forward.
While As It Is is currently on hold, Walters acknowledges what the band has done for him:
“I’m so proud of the choices I’ve made, the relationships I’ve chosen to nurture, and the values I’ve let guide me. I’m so proud to have shaped the community that’s orbited my life this past decade…I’m proud of who I’ve been, but I’m especially proud of who I’ve become. Here’s to another new chapter. It’s never goodbye. It’s just ‘see you around.”
The group released their last album, I WENT TO HELL AND BACK, in 2022 via Fearless Records. Read Walter’s full statement below:
