Rise Rock n’ Shine: Horace Bray + Alborn + Carpool Tunnel

Have a balanced breakfast of new tunes.

It’s time to Rise Rock n’ Shine…

Who: If there’s anything Horace Bray knows, it’s music. After studying jazz performance and music theory at University of North Texas, he’s made some huge career moves – but his new EP may be the biggest one yet. Watch for Fame, Fortune, and Perfume on 2/26.

What: Hear “Let Go”, the fourth single from the collection.

Why: It’s hard to accurately describe a song that feels as infinite as “Let Go”. Horace brings every ounce of his talent to the track, which is reminiscent of those epic 80’s pop tunes you’ll never get out of your head. As the indie beat unfolds before you, you’ll feel like a sky of stars is expanding above you. The notes of the song are almost visual as Horace tells his story, so turn the volume up and enjoy the show.

“‘Let Go’ is an anthem for releasing into the moment and following your heart. I wrote this song when I finally decided to leave NYC and move across the country to Los Angeles. Sometimes songs are a long process and take a lot of refinement and sometimes they are so strong that you don’t have a choice in writing them— some songs just have to come out. This was the first song I wrote for this project so it has a special place in my heart. It marks the beginning of a new era for my artistry and for my own personal growth. All I can hope for is that it does the same for someone who hears it.” – Horace Bray

Who: Alborn started their career as a cover band. Over the past five years, they’ve grown into one of the most promising alternative-metal up and comers. The Midwestern group has accumulated a loyal fanbase, a solid discography, and a sound of their very own—so pay attention, because it’s only going up from here.

What: Alborn hits the ground running in 2021 with “Cause To Create”.

Why: We’re warning you now, your neck is probably gonna be really sore after listening to “Cause To Create”. Alborn pulls inspiration from anthemic rock hits and heavy metal hitters alike. During the three minute tune, they walk a tight line between melody and riff with ease. You’ll find your only problem with the track is figuring out how to singalong and headbang at the same time.

“We wrote ‘Cause To Create’ about someone not only getting in the way of your own decisions, but making those decisions for you. I think the pandemic has left everyone feeling vulnerable and angry, and we wanted to paint that picture from our perspective.” Justin Taylor, vocalist and guitarist for Alborn

Who: Carpool Tunnel is a modern band for a modern age. The group met via “Tinder for bands” and went to work on their debut album. Bloom will drop on 2/26, but first the San Francisco quartet is showing us what to expect from them.

What: Dig into the song and video for “Flora”.

Why: Here at Rise Rock n’ Shine, we like to start your day on a happy note—so we’ve enlisted Carpool Tunnel’s “Flora” to assist. You don’t even have to know the song to love it. Just a few seconds of the plucky guitars and dance floor vibes will have your heart. Whether you park in a no parking zone, or your coffee just isn’t hitting right this morning, the sunny energy on the tune will fix your bad mood in no time.
