Inbox Jukebox #107: Eighty Ninety, Joshua Speers + Lili Kendall

…This is the Inbox Jukebox:

Eighty Ninety – “Know Me”

The mood is sunset and fireflies on “Know Me”, the latest from Eighty Ninety. We’re envisioning the back porch of a cabin on a lake, where the stars are the lone witnesses to truths we only tell in the quiet half-light. There’s something enchanting about the cascading banjo and the bright airy vocals, it’s a lullaby for love that wakes up the romantic in you. Drift away…

It’s time to hop on the back of the bike. We’re going for a long chill ride on the I-360 (and that “I” is all about you). “Oh Brother” is an 80s inspired, neo-classic rock ballad that wakes us up to the fact a bad romance will never be good. And Joshua Speers does it so well, he’s making self-aware rebel music that rides along the same roads as Springsteen and Mellencamp. Ahh, and the allure of those smooth raspy vocals, they take you right along wherever Speers plans to go next.

Getting your heart ripped out is a groove when it comes to “third degree love crimes”. Lili Kendallgoes in’ on this jazzy pop&b tune, that’s reminiscent of the neo-soul era, serving up music that’s as cold-blooded as it is hot.
