There aren’t many bands contending with The Killers for the widest breadth of sonic profile. Since the day that cage door opened, they’ve strayed worlds away from their grit-and-glam ethos of post-punk revival. The trek’s seen them over the washboard roads of heartland rock, through flashbangs of synth-driven pop, and the wildflower fields on the softer side of folk. And still, now 20 years removed from their Hot Fuss debut, they continue to fire off their early staples with the same love-scorned ferocity that had first lit the fuse. In celebration of the bi-decadal anniversary today, June 7, we reached… Read more »

Las Vegas rock band the Killers, in the middle of a world tour to promote their third album, plan to release a live DVD later this year. “We’re working on some ideas for what will be our first DVD,” drummer Ronnie Vannucci said. “We’ve been kind of hounded about it for a while, and haven’t really thought we were due for it yet, but I think it’s time. I think we’re approaching the moment of DVD mass hysteria.” That’s not all the band is currently working on. In addition to tinkering around with songwriting ideas for its next Christmas single,… Read more »
LOS ANGELES (Billboard) – Three years after the former manager of The Killers sued the band for alleged breach of contract, the group has filed a countersuit claiming a pattern of incompetence and double-dealing. The Killers' lawsuit, filed Friday in federal court in Las Vegas alleges breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty and unjust enrichment as well as breach of an implied good-faith covenant by former manager Braden Merrick and his company, From the Future. Though the Killers' suit doesn't specify the amount of damages being sought, a statement from the band obtained by Billboard cites "multi-million-dollar damages in… Read more »
Brandon Flowers is having trouble explaining himself. Maybe it’s because nothing about him adds up: a couture-wearing synth-pop fanatic who wants to be Bruce Springsteen; a devout Mormon who sings in a decadent Las Vegas rock band. Maybe it’s because when Flowers talks, he tends to get in trouble – like when he bragged that Sam’s Town, the previous album from his band, the Killers, was “one of the best albums in the last 20 years” before anyone heard it. Or maybe it’s because, as the Killers prepare to release their third album, Day & Age, he’s still not sure… Read more »

Using a remote Logic-based songwriting workflow, band members recorded their ideas in Logic then shared them via email and Apple iDisk with each other… Read more »
NEW YORK —- The Killers are back, and this time they’ve brought the weird. The Las Vegas quartet’s third studio album “Day & Age” sees them tapping into a little of their hometown’s oddness in both new image and sound. They break out steel drums, harpsichords and horns. They sing about alien abduction. Their new stage outfits feature animal prints and plumage. “The word ‘playful’ keeps coming up,” says Brandon Flowers , the singer and keyboardist. “We just really had fun. And I think it shows in the album.” It’s a gaudy new direction for the synth-rock group that emerged… Read more »
