It has been 15 months Gym Class Heroes released The Quilt, an album that was supposed to carry them to the next level but, thanks to an increased focus on hip-hop, confounded most GCH fans, and quickly disappeared from the charts.
Sadly, it may be a moment before we receive any substantial news from the members of Rage Against The Machine in regard to their rescheduled European and North American tour dates. After vocalist Zach De la Rocha sustained a leg injury in Chicago during the band’s US reunion tour in July, he persevered through the remainder of the tour performing while seated. Unfortunately, due to the severity of Zach De la Rocha’s Achilles tear, the band was forced to cancel their European show dates and their 2023 North American tour dates. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame swung open its doors Monday night to the latest batch of acts ticketed for music immortality, with the Georgia alt-rock icons and the dysfunctional Pasadena party band leading the way. They were joined by ’70s punk pioneer Patti Smith, ’60s girl group the Ronettes and the first hip-hop act to crash the party, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. Billboard and MTV report that Chris Cornell of Rage Against the Machine has left the band. Cornell joined after singer Zach de la Rocha left. The band did not intend to keep the Rage name but hasn’t announced a new name yet. The new group was set to debut at Ozzfest this summer. Ozzfest organizers refuse to comment. No reason was given for Cornell’s departure.
