The Sex Pistols’ latest attempt to get up people’s noses comes in the form of their own branded perfume. While fragrance launches from music stars like Britney Spears, Sean “Diddy” Combs and Avril Lavigne have become commonplace, it’s still an eyebrow-raising move from the legendary punk band, which has been better-known for making cash from chaos than cologne. Fresh from a brief reunion tour of Britain, the Sex Pistols will return to the road next summer, guitarist Steve Jones said on Wednesday. Speaking on his Los Angeles radio show, Jones did not give any specifics, other than to say that the punk rock icons might play a charity show at London’s Royal Albert Hall organized by Who vocalist Roger Daltrey. Punk rock legends the Sex Pistols have added two more dates to their comeback tour after the first three gigs at London’s Brixton Academy sold out in minutes. The band, celebrating the 30th anniversary of their seminal album “Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols,” had originally planned a single London appearance on November 8, but that was extended to three nights. The tiny, unassuming city of Devore, California, will be transformed into a punk-rock Mecca next month when it hosts a show featuring the Sex Pistols, X, Bad Religion, the Vandals, Unwritten Law, New Found Glory and others. The September 14 KROQ Inland Invasion concert at the 65,000-seat Glen Helen Blockbuster Pavilion will also feature the Damned, the Adolescents, the Distillers, T.S.O.L. and G.B.H, according to a source close to the show. A quarter-century after they shot to infamy with the scathing anti-royal song “God Save the Queen,” the Sex Pistols are reuniting in the summer of Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden Jubilee. The legendary punk band will perform July 27 at London’s Crystal Palace sports center, singer John Lydon said today (May 16). British punk legends the Sex Pistols are to reissue their anarchic song “God Save the Queen” to mark Queen Elizabeth’s 50 years on the throne, their record company said Thursday. “(The record) is to be reissued around the Golden Jubilee celebrations on May 27,” Virgin Records said in a statement. “It will feature the original artwork.” The single’s anti-royal lyrics and cover image of the queen with a safety pin through her nose caused outrage on its first release in 1977.
