Metallica have yet to settle on a Ramones cover to lend to a forthcoming tribute LP to the pioneering punks; perhaps “I Can’t Make It on Time” would be an apt selection. A contribution from the heavy-metal stalwarts is all that co-producer Rob Zombie is waiting on to sign off on the tracks for We’re a Happy Family, which he hopes will hit stores in August. “It’s almost done. We’re just waiting for Metallica to finish their song,” Zombie said while walking the red carpet Saturday at the MTV Movie Awards. Metallica’s delay is not for lack of enthusiasm. After… Read more »

Two years ago, Rob Zombie learned that music from his triple platinum 1998 album “Hellbilly Deluxe” had been used without his permission for a Mazda Truck TV commercial. Upon first hearing from fans about the commercial, Zombie believed that they were mistaken, but after viewing the TV spot himself, he realized it was true. Zombie immediately called his attorney, Jeffrey Light, and proceeded with a law suit. “They [Mazda and The Doner Agency] don’t seem to understand that once the cat’s out of the bag it’s hard to get him back in there,” Zombie explains. “It’s like [my policy is]… Read more »

Rob Zombie To Replace Rage Project On Ozzfest Main Stage

It seems Ozzfest, like any good corporation, promotes from within. Former second-stage headliner Rob Zombie will fill the main-stage slot vacated by the untitled Chris Cornell-Rage Against the Machine collaboration, which forfeited the slot after the ex-Soundgarden singer announced he was “no longer moving forward” with the project, according to tour organizers. Although appearing on the larger stage, Zombie will still perform the stripped-down set he planned for the second stage. The move now allows Down – a group composed of Pantera’s Philip Anselmo and members of Eyehategod, Corrosion of Conformity and Crowbar – to headline the second stage, while… Read more »
