Will Smith To Pony Up Big Dough For Big Boy's Weight Loss


It’s a good thing “Men in Black II” is doing well at the box office, because star Will Smith has some unexpected costs to take care of. At the beginning of the year, the rapper/actor announced his New Year’s resolution was to help Los Angeles radio personality Big Boy lose weight. Smith pledged to donate $1,000 per pound to charity if the Power 106 DJ could lose 50 pounds. Petitions, Protests Save Stone Pony


Thousands of e-mails, petitions and phone calls have saved the club in Asbury Park where Bruce Springsteen and other Jersey musicians played. The original redevelopment plan called for the Stone Pony to be moved to make way for new housing. Owner Domenic Santana told The New York Times it’s weird to know how many fans around the world obsess about the club, and he decided he couldn’t put a dollar amount on that. The Asbury Park city council will vote in April on a plan to build the housing units around the club, instead of in its place.

The Stone Pony, a mecca for fans of Jersey shore rock ‘n’ roll, appears to have survived a brush with destruction, officials said on Thursday. The dilapidated nightclub, a musical home to such legends as Bruce Springsteen and Patti Smith, will be incorporated into a tentative plan to help revitalize the decayed beachfront of Asbury Park, New Jersey, they said.
