Turnstile has announced they are heading to Latin America for their next tour. The hardcore giants will bring Drain and Ceremony as support. With nine dates out ahead of their June European run, they show no signs of slowing down. The Baltimore act posted on their Instagram about the announcement, and fans posted their excitement. SAO PAULO, Brazil – Grammy-winning singer and guitarist Jack White of the rock duo White Stripes married British model Karen Elson this week in a canoe in the Brazilian Amazon, according to a message on the band’s Web site. New York – Oscar and Grammy winner Prince will be among the presenters Sunday at the 77th Academy Awards, to air live on ABC from the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, Calif. It will be his first time as a presenter on the telecast, Oscar ceremony producer Gil Cates said Wednesday. Prince won an Oscar for original song score in 1985 for “Purple Rain.” Earlier this month, he won two Grammy Awards. Presenters also will include Sean Penn, John Travolta, Gwyneth Paltrow, Natalie Portman and Tim Robbins.
Melissa Etheridge married Tammy Lynn Michaels in California on Saturday (September 20), despite the fact that the state does not recognize same-sex unions. The 42-year-old Grammy Award-winning singer and the 28-year-old up-and-coming actress dated for two years before tying the knot. The surviving members of legendary punk group The Clash will not perform when they are inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame later this month, bass player Paul Simonon said Saturday. One of the most influential bands to emerge from the British punk movement of the 1970s, The Clash split up in the mid-1980s and never reformed. The band’s lead singer, Joe Strummer, died of a heart attack in December at age 50.
