At long last, mgk‘s highly-anticipated album has arrived, lost americana. Featuring the pop-infused singles and visuals for “cliché,” “vampire diaries,” and “miss sunshine,” the album release also arrived with one more video: “outlaw overture.”
Ahead of the album release, he shared on Twitter/X, “My request is that you to listen to ‘lost americana’ in its entirety front to back tonight, even if you’ve heard the singles. preferably in the car.”
Additionally, mgk took time to dedicate the album to his late friend and pro snowboarder Luke “The Dingo” Trembath, who passed in February 2025. mgk notes, “[I’m] dedicating this album to our brother in the sky Dingo. It’s the last piece of music he heard from us before he passed, and he’s been an honorary member of our band since day 1. Tonight’s release isn’t the same without a legendary christening from him, but his spirit is all over the project. Get in your car this weekend, start driving and press play; it’s time for Lost Americana.”
Fellow alternative artists are already sharing praise for the record, including phem, saying, “This album is incredible… the love & care that went into it is immeasurable… and ofc Dingo 4evr.”
Mod Sun also added, “Let’s the ride begin. Proud of u. Endlessly proud. Watched you evolve + work us ass off + genuinely smile thru it all. It’s been a decade of friendship, this is my favorite chapter so far. Cheers to a beautiful album being born.”
