Ahead of their festival sets at Lollapalooza and Warped Tour Orlando, People R Ugly have unleashed their new single, “THINKIN BOUT YOU.” Infused with dance-inducing indie vocals, groovy basslines, and a soulful bridge, you’ll be dancing away thoughts about your shitty ex in no time.
The quartet shares, “The meaning behind ‘THINKIN BOUT YOU’ is simple. When your head isn’t filled with memories of an ex, you’re way better off. Though this song reminisces on a past relationship, it still feels like a positive outlook on the experience and almost a celebration.”
The band adds, “The hook lyrics list everything you’re able to do once an ex is out of your mind, including getting good sleep and being the life of the party. It’s then followed by the catchy/memorable line: ‘One thing’s true, I’m not thinkin’ bout you.'”

Earlier this summer, People R Ugly also dropped the summery “BETTER” with a sampling of YoungBloodZ’s “Damn!” featuring Lil’ Jon.
The band says, “Rather than dwelling on a breakup, we flipped the narrative with the hook. ‘I like you better, better when you’re off my mind.’ The bridge drives it home: ‘I should thank you, ’cause you’re the reason I don’t care anymore.’ It’s a simple concept, but delivered in an unexpected way. The kind of high-energy track you’d hear at a punk rock or hip-hop show.”
