It’s time to be thankful for those overcast days, because Massachusetts rock quintet Northernmost have just provided the perfect soundtrack, in the form of the acoustic version of “Cloudy”, which you can exclusively download for free right here on idobi. Vocalist/guitarist Jesse Field says of the song:
“Cloudy is the most personal song I’ve ever written. It deals with family, sickness and expectations that you hold for yourself and that others hold for you. Honestly, it’s the first time I’ve ever been scared by the things I was singing. It made everything more real to have to write about it. I really wanted people to slow down at the end of the EP and take in the words. It is more raw than things we usually write about- both thematically and production wise but I like that about it. It was just me and a guitar in front of a microphone. I took a breath and shared my thoughts which is all I can hope to do with music.”
The group just released their latest EP, Pinedale, last week via Rude Fox Records. For fans of Brand New and Balance and Composure, Northernmost are a shining light in the scene. Get your hands on the acoustic version of “Cloudy” below, and if you like what you hear, check out their EP here!
