Ryan Seaman and Friends

This week I have long time friend and guitar player Dan Palmer from the bands: Zebrahead and Death By Stereo, I did one of my first tours with Dan in 2002, and we’ve been friends ever since, his singer Efrem from Death By Stereo was one of my very first friends moving to LA as well. I learn Dan’s story about how he got to where he is and all the bands he’s been in over the years. 

This week I have the artist formerly known as Ryan Seaman, we have the same name with no relation. People had been asking me to do visual art for their bands CD’s, when I explained that’s what I didn’t do, I looked him up, reached out, and we’ve hung out a few times ever since. I got to know him better on this weeks episode and we talk about how he became a visual artist. He’s done a lot of cool bands and art for huge companies, check out this episode!

This week I have long time friend Andie D’Avino, she is behind all of the marketing for The Grove Of Anaheim, a very prestigious venue in Orange County California! She was also the first manager I ever had and for 2 bands that I was in (Fairview/I Am Ghost) we talk about that as well. I talk to her about how she got started in the music business and how it’s led her to where she is today. 

This week I have independent agent Eva Alexiou-Reo. I’ve known Eva since I was 18 and met her when she was booking the first national touring act I was with called The Eyeliners. Eva has built an empire over the years booking such bands as Saves The Day, Jimmy Eat World, Alkaline Trio, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Mae, Hot Water Music and much more! We talk about how she got her start to where she is today! 

This week I have childhood friend Jake Margolis, he and I went to middle school and part of high school together in Utah and he too became a career drummer, at the age of 16 he joined band Madcap and went on the 2000 Warped Tour, and from there he’s played drums for such bands as: Tokyo Rose, Let Go, Time Again, Everclear, and much more, he’s now in punk band from Seattle The Drowns and we talk about what it was like growing up together in Utah and where life took Jake. 

This week I have drummer Pete Parada on my show, he’s played for many bands that I’ve loved over the years, he’s played for such bands as: Face To Face, Saves The Day, My Chemical Romance, The Offspring, and now he shares his new project The Defiant. I learn Pete’s story about how he got to LA and did the drum thing, and it reminded me of myself, we had a good conversation and I learn a lot about his journey. 

This week I have long time friend singer/songwriter Scott Klopfenstein from The Littlest Man Band and Reel Big Fish, I first met him when I had just graduated high school and was on tour with him in 2002, I even got to play the song Take On Me with Reel Big Fish a few times that year. We recently got back in touch a couple years ago and we talk about how he got started, as well as how I recently filled in for his band on a week and a half run to Texas and back. It was a lot of fun, and so was this interview. 

This week I have Tyler Fortney who is a musical director, songwriter, and a producer. He’s worked with bands like: The Neighbourhood, She Wants Revenge, The Wanted, Atreyu, Almost Monday etc… I met him when he first played bass for band American Eyes and we talk about how far he’s come in his career this week and what he has coming up! 

This week I have long time friend/songwriter Jeff Sahyoun, he’s the man of all trades, and I first met him in 2010 while I was living in Utah when he was in the band Letlive. We would eventually tour together several times over the years and I got to know his story better about how he came to be with his new project Erase Theory. We talk all things Jeff ! 

This week I have up and coming drummer “Tosh The Drummer” he’s coming up quick in the alternative scene, while starting out playing funk and rock, he’s still very young and has a bright future ahead of him, I met him in Singapore and we struck a friendship and I waned to get to know him and his background better this week on my show, he also talks about all the things he has coming up. 

This week I have singer/songwriter Josh Johnson from rock band Tyler Read. We talk about how we shared a guitar player at one time (Chris McPeters from Tyler Read/The Bigger Lights) and we talk about all things Josh and what his career has been like in and out of Tyler Read, they went on hiatus for a little while and now are coming back. This week I have singer songwriter Alaena on my podcast this week, we talk about how she got started in the metal world as a hired keyboard player for lots of metal projects, and how she made the shift in becoming solo in the alternative world, I hear her inspirational story along with other stories told along the way.
