While Vera Farmiga may be known for being a horror icon on the silver screen in ‘The Conjuring’ film franchise and ‘Bates Motel’ TV series, she also has a deep-rooted passion and connection to the music industry. Farmiga’s husband, Renn Hawkey, rose to prominence as the synthesizer player of the nu-metal group Deadsy in the mid-90s. The group worked alongside several major players within the genre including a feature with KORN’s Jonathan Davis on the track “The Key to Gramercy Park” as well as Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst directing the music video for the same single. This week I have long time friend singer/songwriter Scott Klopfenstein from The Littlest Man Band and Reel Big Fish, I first met him when I had just graduated high school and was on tour with him in 2002, I even got to play the song Take On Me with Reel Big Fish a few times that year. We recently got back in touch a couple years ago and we talk about how he got started, as well as how I recently filled in for his band on a week and a half run to Texas and back. It was a lot of fun, and so was this interview.
