Modern-Alternative rockers Lit have nailed down studio time to start working on the follow-up to their 1999 platinum-plus sophomore release “A Place In The Sun.” Lead vocalist A. XM Satellite Losses Skyrocket In Q-1, 2000


XM Satellite Radio reported that the company’s losses nearly tripled for its first quarter ending March 31, noting that its consolidated net losses increased to $42.7 million ($.80 per share), up from consolidated net losses of $14.2 million ($.30 per share) in the same quarter a year ago. XM also said that it raised more than $200 million in the first quarter of 2001, enough funding to keep the company operational into 2002. Satellite Radio Orbits For Profit


The dueling satellite radio companies need to rein in previous expectations, but they are still poised to create thriving new businesses that will challenge terrestrial radio, a new report suggests. In a research paper titled “Satellite Radio: Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car,” Webnoize Inc. estimates that 19.1 million Americans will subscribe to either the XM Satellite Radio or the Sirius Satellite Radio service by 2005, representing 9.3% of the adult population in the United States. Anti-Piracy Org Splits From RIAA


Artist rights organization Artists Against Piracy has severed ties to its primary financial supporter, the Recording Industry Association of America. The split stems largely from Artists Against Piracy’s broader agenda.
